Q. Why does SENDiT recommend a strict File Naming Convention (FNC)?

·         We recommend you create a File Naming Convention (FNC) for naming your files in a way that describes what they contain and how they relate to other files.

·         Formalising a standard FNC for your documents will create a common language and save time.

·         The file name will also be visible when a user uploads a document and leads to a very quick transfer of relevant information for the uploading function.

·         The full file names are listed on the iPlan Document List. All users can immediately acquire the range of documents a CYP has on record by scanning the documents names and dates. This will support strategic planning.

o   SENDiT will list documents in date order, so you need to provide a full date when uploading.

o   For time efficiency include this in your file name.

Several examples are included below.
